Champion of the underdog, accountant, and business manager turned therapist; family tradition established by my grandfather, then my mother who passed it on to me. I was raised by a single parent and in the eighth grade we moved from New York, most of my life has been spent in Southern California.
I became interested in working with folks struggling with addiction. Once I began that work, I realized I wanted to pursue higher education to meet people’s needs on a therapeutic in-depth level.I specialized in treating mood disorders (depression/anxiety), grief, substance abuse, co-occurring disorders, and trauma. I work with clients from 14 years old and up; both individuals and couples.
I develop a picture of my clients based upon their early attachments and family of origin. I am psychodynamic in orientation. Once the picture is developed, I work with people to help them see how the patterns in relationships they are struggling with today, took shape in their earlier lives. Often genograms and family systems theory come into my work. I also use DBT, and emotional agility.
My hobbies include spending time with my dogs, gardening, reading, and spending time with good friends.
