Therapist
I am an aerospace engineer turned psychotherapist. After attending a group meeting in support of a friend recovering from substance use, I was inspired to switch careers. I left a successful career in the aerospace industry to go back to school and study psychology. Over a decade later, I am still enjoy doing what I do and have no regrets about my decision.
I treat trauma, mood, anxiety, and depressive disorders. I also specialize in relationship issues.
As a mental health clinician, I use client centered therapies such as Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) to treat major psychological disorders including anxiety, depression, mood, feeding & eating, neurocognitive, disruptive, impulse & conduct, and substance use.
In treating trauma, PTSD and stressor related disorders, I use CBT as well as the latest methods in EMDR. I work with victims of crime, domestic violence, child, elder and spouse abuse, veterans, all of which can produce PTSD.
As a relationship specialist I work with individuals, couples, and families to resolve issues that can exist in their relationships. I use a combination of humanistic and solution focus therapies to help my clients make huge changes in their lives. I use my education in psychology as well as decades of experience to motivate, guide, and uplift my clients.
I am culturally aware and provide culturally sensitive care. I have traveled to four continents; Africa, Asia, Europe & North America, and lived in the latter three. From the ice-cold mountains of Norway in Scandinavia to the hot Sahara Desert in Africa, from the Moslem Middle East to the Conservative Utah, I’ve spent time with different cultures and religions. I’ve come to understand that every culture has a lot of good to offer as well as having its own needs, its own personality, and its own remedies. This has been very helpful when dealing with clients and patients of so many different ethnic backgrounds.
During my free time I enjoy writing and SCUBA diving. Those hobbies take me to different worlds. In the underwater marine world I enjoy being immersed in an environment where I am out of place and float as the waves push me around. The other is a world that I create in any way I want. Here, my creativity is 100% in charge and takes me on far and wide adventures.
Sometimes I take my clients on those adventures with me, so they can see the potential we all carry within ourselves.
