Luz Flores
Licensed Marriage And Family Therapist
Self Care Counseling Founder
I was born and raised in Los Angeles. I took a strong interest in mental health early in life due to some challenges I faced during my upbringing. The kindness and guidance that I experienced from counselors inspired me to pursue a career that allows me to provide the same assistance that I was able to receive. It would be my pleasure and privilege to be a guiding light for you.
My professional journey began as a special education teacher. My focus then moved into the fields of school counseling and community mental health. I have spent over a decade providing therapy for children, adults, and families throughout the county of Los Angeles, with a specific focus on those who have experienced trauma. My primary training is in both various forms of cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness therapy; nevertheless, I understand that one type of treatment does not work best for everyone and take an eclectic approach to ensure the needs of my clients are being addressed.
I strongly believe that everyone deserves access to help when trying to live a better life. I accept you for who you are. I love helping people of all ethnicities, genders, ages, and faiths. I’m also fluent in Spanish if that is the language that you feel more comfortable speaking during our sessions. Â
Another passion of mine is art and listening to live music. It all brings a smile to my face and joy in my heart. I look forward to hearing about the things in life that bring you similar enjoyment.
Thank you for taking a moment to read a little bit about my background. I’m looking forward to meeting you and hearing about your story.
